About the course
Intercultural communication is the ability to interact respectfully and effectively with people from different cultural, national and social backgrounds, to understand their values and norms of behaviour, and to adapt your own behaviour to the situation. It helps you avoid stereotypes and misunderstandings, build trust in multicultural teams and partnerships, and use differences as a source of new ideas and solutions. During the course, participants will learn about the main models that explain cultural differences (for example, Hofstede’s dimensions, Erin Meyer’s “The Culture Map” and the “iceberg” model), explore the features of high-context and low-context communication, learn to recognise their own cultural biases, and develop curiosity, flexibility and open-mindedness for working and interacting in international and diverse environments.
